FAQ

Your Questions. Professional Answers.

WHAT IS A MOVEMENT SPECIALIST?+

A movement specialist is a movement teacher or other professional who has furthered their training to help people find optimal movement strategies to support their body on the path to healing. Based on the mobility, strength, coordination and movement patterns we find, we give corrective exercises to help your body move in ways that help it function better.

DO YOU ONLY WORK WITH WOMEN?+

No! We work with all people from teenagers & beyond. While many people may experience higher rates of symptoms during the childbearing years, core & pelvic health is something that impacts all people in various stages of life.

HOW ARE YOUR CLASSES DIFFERENT FROM REGULAR CORE EXERCISE CLASSES?+

Our classes go beyond just exercising the body. We focus on good movement strategies, building up awareness of which muscles are being recruited & how those muscles are executing movements, managing intra-abdominal pressure, as well as providing custom modifications or progressions for those who need them.

WHAT IS THE CORE & PELVIC FLOOR?+

The core is a system of multiple parts that work together to support us. The pelvic floor is a group of 14-16 muscles (depending on biological sex), fascia/tissue, and ligaments that are located at the base of the pelvis in 3 layers. The pelvic floor muscles are actually part of the core system which includes the abdominal muscles, respiratory diaphragm, and muscles in our back.
